An Interstate 94 crash near Gurnee that left a man dead Monday morning remains under investigation.
Police shut down a portion of northbound and southbound traffic on the interstate after a semi-trailer truck lost control, veering across four lanes of traffic and rolling over onto the median shortly before 5:30 a.m.
The driver of the truck, identified as a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to Newport Fire Protection District Lt. Keenan Stone.
The truck, which was carrying a trailer for Amazon, was traveling southbound on I-94 when the driver appeared to lose control. Stone said it was not yet apparent what caused the accident, which occurred between Route 173 and Grand Avenue.
Stone said firefighters had to put out a small fire, due to diesel fuel spill, and extricate the driver from the wreckage. Stone said no other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no one else was injured.
