Elmhurst police are investigating an attempted Thursday afternoon burglary of a home in the 600 block of Babcock Avenue.
The homeowner reported that while he was in the shower at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, he heard the noise of his rear door being kicked in. He did not see any offenders, nor was anything taken from the house.
A neighbor’s camera showed two white males pull up in the driveway in a white sedan, then walk around the house.
Elmhurst Police Department Deputy Chief Michael McLean confirmed Friday the rear door of the house was damaged, but said it wasn’t clear if the offenders actually made entry to the house. “That’s unknown,” McLean said. “It seems once the offenders realized the home was occupied, they left rather quickly.”

McLean said the incident remains under investigation. He urged anyone with information on the incident or with video of the area to get in touch with Elmhurst police by calling 630-530-3050.
