A man was found unresponsive with a head injury in Pilsen Friday afternoon, while another was shot in Austin minutes later, and both died of their wounds.

The first man was found in Pilsen in the 1900 Block of South Ashland Avenue at approximately 12:43 p.m., according to a police notification. He had a head injury caused by an unknown object and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Minutes later in the Austin neighborhood, a 27-year-old man was in front of a residence in the 5500 block of West Adams Street at approximately 12:58 p.m. when he heard gunshots and felt pain. He was struck in the head and shoulder, according to a police notification. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are investigating both incidents.
