Cubs are out, Sox are in: The Cubs and White Sox series turned into a Mutt-and-Jeff situation. Ricketts has sold out. He won’t pay the high-priced salaries for the veterans. He’s going to be looking at empty seats at Wrigley Field. The South Side has risen. They are now Chicago’s team. It’s about time.
Want benefits? Get vaccinated: People are quitting jobs because they are refusing to receive an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. Legislation should be in the works which will not allow unemployment benefits be paid to anyone who has no reason to not be vaccinated as well as anyone receiving an unearned, legislated, government benefit. I won’t hold my breath expecting it to happen because American freedom has come to mean, “I have my rights, and, if you want my vote, you better not make me.”
Paying kindness forward: I would like thank two ladies who were anonymous who paid for my meal at the Aurelio’s and who, through my server, gave me a $20 gift certificate. This was because they saw my U.S. Army cap on my table. Great to know there are still some very generous and considerate people around. God bless these special people. Passed it on to a former naval aviator who crashed three times and hardly walked.
Guns at Billiken parade: I watched the Bud Billiken Parade. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the drill team carrying guns. With all the crime going on in Chicago, whoever was in charge of the team had sawdust for a brain. It was simply a disgrace.
Extremists on both sides: Columnist Paul Krugman should be reminded that most conservatives are not right-wing extremists and that left-wing extremists have their own media pundits and financial backers that drive Democrats to be more and more extreme. The latter point was missing from his column.
Back up your claims: Once again a writer is complaining about all the damage President Biden and Vice President Harris have done in their eight months in office. And once again, a writer has yet to enlighten us as to exactly what this damage is. Not even one example is mentioned. Guess it’s too vague to be anything substantial — or credible.
