Adlai Stevenson High School leaders expressed being “excited” to start the new academic year with full-time, in-person instruction – having students, faculty and staff “back together again.”
“As we continue navigating this pandemic, we’ll be focusing our time and energy reconnecting as a school community and ensuring our students get the social-emotional and academic support they need,” Principal Troy Gobble told Pioneer Press in an email.

The school year started Aug. 12 for the nearly 4,300 students enrolled in the school, which is located in Lincolnshire. The high school serves students who live in more than a dozen nearby towns, including portions of Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Lake Forest, Lake Zurich, Mundelein and Vernon Hills.
Stevenson is the lone school of Stevenson School District 125. District spokeswoman Jaimie Oh told Pioneer Press that 11 new teachers started at the school this year.
Additionally, Oh explained, the district and school has implemented a number of public health safety rules as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

“As of now, and per the governor’s orders, we have implemented universal masking for all students, faculty and staff on campus,” she said.
Stevenson was one of the first in Lake County to be used this past spring by the county health department as a mass vaccination venue where shots against the coronavirus were administered. Also, as youth as young as 12 became eligible for the vaccine, school and district officials worked to help community kids and ones enrolled at Stevenson get vaccinated.
As the 2021-2022 school year got underway, SD125 officials announced that faculty and staff are required to be vaccinated by Oct. 15.
