Get shot or get fired: If the staff at nursing homes refuse COVID-19 vaccinations and get fired, they will not be able to collect unemployment. They will be breaking a policy of the employer and not be eligible for unemployment benefits.
Trump’s deal with Taliban: The U.S. military has left weapons and equipment behind in other wars and military operations for years, especially in Vietnam, which that had a similar exit situation and problems. Also Trump, signed a deal with the Taliban that basically handed over the country to them. This not only demoralized the Afghan forces the U.S. military spent 20 years training, but also released thousands of Taliban fighters from captivity.
Don’t forget Pakistan’s role: The reason the Taliban were able to flourish for the last 20 years is because our ally, Pakistan, receives millions of dollars of military aid from us and allowed them to flourish. They gave them safe haven. Otherwise, Pakistan would have closed the border. The U.S. Army would have crushed them within a year.
Something not right here: The whole withdrawal process from Afghanistan is not normal. First, they close the biggest airport, which would have accommodated getting more people out more quickly. They’re leaving behind billions of dollars worth of sophisticated weapons for the enemy. It’s as if this was done intentionally. We should be very concerned over our safety and security since our leaders evidently don’t know what they’re doing.
Huge tax bill hike: I just received my second installment on my tax bill. My taxes went up over $1,024. I’ve lived in my condo for 44 years and I have never paid such a high tax bill for a condo and a garage. This is ridiculous. I’m a senior, I can’t afford a $1,000 increase. I won’t be 65 until next September.
Gov’s out of touch: Does Gov. Pritzker actually believe another mandate or further mitigations are going to change anything? Emerge from your palatial estate and see what’s going on where the common folk live and are trying to make ends meet, J.B. You’ll see more masks around chins than on faces. And shutdowns? That didn’t work the first time around. More of the unsuccessful same is never the answer.
True colors showing: I am growing more and more concerned about the racist comments, some subtle, some more overt, made in Speak Out. I am sure that most would say, “I’m not racist,” but you should really consider what and how you say it, because your racism is showing.
