No cheaters allowed: Chicago baseball fans are divided when it comes to Sammy Sosa entering the Cubs Hall of Fame. But as part of the debate it should be recalled that Sammy was not only a selfish player but a proven cheater as well. Even worse, he quit on his team in his last appearance at Wrigley Field.

Meaningful honor: When our we going to see the name of (slain Chicago police officer) Ella French on the sports teams helmets and jerseys. It would be nice to have the Chicago Bears, the White Sox, the Cubs, the Blackhawks and the Bulls would start the tradition. We need to honor this hero. Let’s not forget her.

Baby Ella Grace: I think it would be a lasting legacy to Officer French if expectant mothers named their daughters Ella Grace in her honor.

Funny how the prices work: Has anybody else noticed that crude oil has come down like $11 in the past two weeks or so, but the gas prices have remained the same. Now if oil went up 50 cents, gas prices would have shot up 50 cents overnight.

Afghanistan rush job: The withdrawal from Afghanistan, I think, was needed. But I can’t understand the way it was done, with the embassy last and the soldiers were first. It didn’t seem to be too well planned. I don’t understand how you can rush to get these immigrants here without really checking them out to see if any of them could be the bad guys and could be plants here so they could come here and do another 9/11. I think all these immigrants ought to go somewhere secure and all be checked out before they go to any state.

TV crossing the line: What has happened to common decency? TV commercials have gone too far selling their products. A woman shaving her body parts, others in bed with sultry clothes. Don’t they realize children are watching the TV. Clean up your act, television.

Calls never stop: Help somebody, please help. How do we stop these 800 phone calls that keep coming in and bothering us every day, morning, noon and night? Someone please come up with an answer so we can get rid of them.
