For the second time in two months, the New Lenox Village Board has a new trustee.
Lindsay Scalise was appointed this week by Mayor Tim Baldermann.
“She’s what we’re looking for,” Baldermann said. “We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to their town, that has no agenda other than doing good for their community.”

Scalise, 37, grew up in the area and is a 2002 graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School. Scalise said she and her husband moved back to New Lenox four years ago after their youngest child was born. The couple have two sons, ages 8 and 4.
“I’m looking forward to this challenge and hope to contribute in some small way to the village’s success,” Scalise said.
Scalise helped in the village’s recent pop tab challenge with Homer Glen, which benefited the Ronald McDonald House. New Lenox came out on top in the challenge and each town was able to select a family with a special-needs child to send on a Disney trip. She also organized a previous pop tab collection which netted 1 million pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
Scalise will fill Bowden’s seat until 2023, when she can seek election to fill out the remaining two years on Bowden’s seat. Bowden was reelected in April to a four-year term. Scalise said she plans to run in 2023.
“I love the village of New Lenox,” Scalise said. “I think everyone here is wonderful and I look forward to making a difference and giving back in this way.”
Baldermann said the village board plans to honor Bowden for her 30 years of public service at its Sept. 13 meeting. Baldermann said Bowden and her husband, who is retired, recently found a home out of state and will be moving. Bowden, who has been a trustee since 1991, could not be reached for comment.
