Handing the keys to Taliban: So Afghanistan falls to the Taliban. Let’s hope and pray all the U.S. citizens there are returned home safe and sound. Why did we leave millions of dollars of our equipment, weapons there? For the Taliban to use possibly against us? Why weren’t they destroyed? Lousy evacuation strategy.

Buyers as bad as shooters: It is an outrage that the straw buyer for the gun that killed Chicago police Officer French, Jamel Danzey, was allowed out on bail. He bought a gun for a known criminal. What did he think the guy was going to do with the gun, frame it for art work on his wall! Danzey and every other straw buyer should be charged with the crime that the gun was used for. That is the only way we will be able to stop these people from bringing guns into our state.

Vaccinations not political: Question for anti-vaxxers. I assume most of you take prescriptions or get a flu shot or some other type of inoculation, including for travel, all with exposure to side effects, some even severe. But you object to a shot that can save your life or people around you with little or no risk just because you see it as political. It is or will be FDA approved like all other drugs, so drop that premise.

Thanks, ballplayers: I’m a veteran and would like to say how proud I am of our baseball teams. Not one person took a knee. God bless America, and thank you.

Doubting Thomases: Kudu’s to Paul Krugman on his column about the descent of the right, as evidenced by their denial of climate change and COVID-19. Of course, the right has also denied many other obvious and irrefutable facts, including the big lie about election results, Trump’s incitement of the January attempted insurrection at the Capitol, voting restrictions, the rise of white nationalism, historical truths, the failure of trickle down economics, the growing income gap, etc. One wonders what today’s doubting Thomases, the right, have to do to believe.

Stupid is as stupid does: After waiting six months, I finally got my income tax return and the refund was wrong. I think the people who work for the IRS are probably the ones who are too stupid to deliver the mail.
