Just a little reminder

Regarding the “Grow up” item: That person seems to have forgotten that then-President Trump over a year ago said there were only 15 cases of the virus in the whole country, and they would be gone by Easter 2020. Just a little reminder.

Not helpful at all

OK, Talk of the County, can we get off of the Pelosi, and the government, and Trump, and get the Talk of the County for the people around here, like Waukegan, Winthrop Harbor, Zion and Gurnee. And while we’re at it, try to get some kind of a thing going for the new mayor in Waukegan. Have her get with the aldermen she has. The aldermen are not helpful at all. I know they’re not all happy that she’s in there, but they’re going to have to work together. But have them follow through with some of the stuff that the people call about in their neighborhoods. These aldermen just sit there, and the only thing that they want to do is get their name in the paper for their good deeds. But have them do stuff for the neighborhoods, like clean them up.

Slapped with fine upon fine

I read your Talk of the County column every day and enjoy it. I totally agree with the person that called in about the income tax refund. I’ve been waiting since April for mine, and what really irritates me is if we’re 10 minutes late sending what we need to the government, we’re slapped with fine upon fine. Thank you for the opportunity to air my frustrations.

Fake vaccination cards

This is for the vaccinated and unvaccinated, and the threats that people are getting if they’re not vaccinated. Might as well know, the new wave is phony vaccination cards. I already know a couple of guys that have got them just so they can go back to work and make the big money they can make without being vaccinated.

Colorblind

It seems quite interesting those pushing the anti-racism agenda are just as guilty themselves by putting a value on the color of someone’s skin as being why you should buy from certain businesses. I will patronize a business based on the professional service I receive, the quality of product I receive and value for my money I receive. And any business owner should use that as a framework for running their business, and not reap a benefit just because of color and nothing more. Right now, many small business owners are feeling a decline so we should focus on keeping them all in business, not just a select few.

Ginormous amount of our tax dollars

Yea. Lawmakers are going to spend a ginormous amount of our tax dollars on national infrastructure, things I thought both our local and state lawmakers were already taking care of. Does that mean we’ll get a rebate locally since it seems as if they’re double-dipping into our wallets? And maybe our enormous cable bill will go down too. Oh, and let’s not forget they’re going to create jobs — union jobs — so it’s going to be about three times the cost because those higher up their chain need to get paid, so they can roll it back into campaign contributions. They really need to spend our money as if they earned it.
