The Oswego Village Board recently approved a $1.88 million contract to resurface some of the village’s most “worn” streets.
About 12 lane-miles of roads and alleys will be resurfaced as a part of this year’s program, according to a village press release.
Most of the work will be on older streets in and around downtown Oswego or collector streets that see higher volumes of traffic than other residential roadways. Roads for the resurfacing project are prioritized based on overall condition, level of traffic and other village operational considerations, officials said.

“Maintaining streets is at the core of the services we provide to our residents,” Village President Troy Parlier said in the statement.
The roads targeted to get resurfaced this year are Woolley Road between Plainfield Road and the Oswego Police Headquarters; Farmington Lakes Drive; Kensington Drive; Main Street, between Van Buren and Washington streets; Boulder Hill Pass; Northgate Circle; Bell Court; Station Drive, between Mill Street and the Park N Ride lot; the alley behind Main Street and Madison Street businesses, from Jackson to Jefferson Street; Rosebush Lane; Brockway Drive; and Fifth Street, from Route 34 to Yoakum Boulevard and Bohannon Circle.
Several roads to get patchwork are Bentson Street, near Bayberry Drive; Ashlawn Avenue, at Oaklawn Avenue; Lombardy Lane, at Oaklawn Avenue; Orchard Avenue, near Ashlawn Avenue; Crofton Road, north of Crofton Court; and Harvey Road at Treasure Drive and Monroe Street.
