The Original Rainbow Cone ice cream truck will be making a return visit to downtown Naperville this week.
It will be set up in the Pure Barre parking lot, 212 S. Webster St., across from the Nichols Library, every afternoon/evening from Wednesday to Sunday.
The business’ claim to fame is its Rainbow Cone, created in 1926 in a business still located on Chicago’s South Side. Its name comes from the five slices of ice cream piled one on top of the other — chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (New York vanilla with cherries and walnuts), pistachio and orange sherbet.

The Palmer House truck — yellow covered in white polka dots — will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 4 to 10 p.m. Friday; and 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according information posted at www.rainbowcone.com.
This will be the truck’s third visit to Naperville. It was downtown in September and October 2020.
Some of the sales proceeds will go to the DuPage Children’s Museum.
The family-run ice cream shop opened 95 years ago at Western Avenue and 92nd Street in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood and is still located there. It was the company’s only location until 2016, when a second opened at Navy Pier.
Its first suburban shop opened in Lombard this spring and a second will be opening in Darien.
