Ravinia Festival concertgoers can now get there and back for free on a Metra train. In a new partnership between Metra and the music festival, Ravinia ticket-holders can use their concert ticket to ride the Metra Union Pacific North line to the show.
The Ravinia Festival outdoor concert series will run this year between Thursday and Sept. 25.
Concertgoers hopping aboard the UP North Line just need to show the conductor their ticket or e-ticket to the music festival to ride the train to the entrance at Ravinia Park Station or to Braeside Station, which is a short walk from the park.
Fares typically cost anywhere between $4 and $9.50. Prior to this year, Metra offered special passes for concertgoers.

Ravinia Festival takes place in Highland Park, 20 miles north of Chicago between Green Bay and Lake Cook roads.
The rides are accessible from any stop on the UP North Line.
