Insurance reform needed: Congress is debating HR3, a bill aimed at reducing health care costs that could negatively impact the development of future treatments and cures for patients. I recently lost my mother and brother to chronic medical conditions. In the years before they passed, the length and quality of their lives were greatly improved by the development of new drugs and therapies. I’m grateful that biopharmaceutical innovation let me spend more time with them. Health care costs are an issue for many, but there are other ways to lower costs without risking new treatments. Insurance reform is a great place to start addressing the high out-of-pocket costs patients face. I hope our leaders make the right choice and vote against HR3.

Obama worse than Trump: Quit blaming former President Trump for every social ill in the country. Where were you for the eight incredibly horrible years of President Barack Obama?

Playing politics: When President Trump offered the city of Chicago federal help, Mayor Lightfoot said no, we don’t need it. Now that Trump is out of office, she’s asking for federal help. She didn’t want to make Trump look good. Politics as usual and the people suffer for it.

In a recent Tucker Carlson broadcast he states that the FBI was involved in the planning of the January 6th insurrection.  This is an example of how Fox News has created sensationalism with out any concern for honesty. Creating accusations with no bases is not news, it is lies that many of their viewers have fallen victims too as being facts. It is this type of misleading accusations that lead Trump supporters to believe the election was corrupted, yet showed no proof of any serious violations.

Inviting another outbreak: Watching all those joyous, mask-less faces at Wrigley Field this past weekend I lost track of the score, wondering when the next outbreak of COVID-19 might occur?

Put Putin to work: Whatever you think of Joe Biden personally, you have to admit the man isn’t stupid and is fully aware that Russia won’t discontinue their involvement in our politics. So rather than wasting another minute debating Republican obstructionists, why doesn’t he simply ask Mr. Putin to get that infrastructure bill passed?

Name-calling harmless: As children, we called each other every name in the book. Some were mean. We got over it. We had fun. We were still friends. Today, if someone takes offense at something you say you could be sued or banned from your social media forever. What fun is that?

Tattoos are forever: I have a comment on heavily tattooed people. I’m talking about tattoos covering the entire arm, the neck and even the face. I’m nearing 70 and I’ve seen fashions come and go. Remember the mullets of the ’80s, and in the ’70s you had leisure suits. Well things like that could easily be corrected. What’s going to happen 20 years from now if these people in their 20s live in a world where tattooing is not accepted, it’s viewed as part of prison culture? Don’t they realize styles come and go? Once you mutilate your bodies with heavy tattoos you’re stuck with them.
