Van stolen in May located, as police chase leads to arrest in Westmont

Chicago officers located a vehicle that was carjacked last month and followed it until they were able to make an arrest in Westmont, according to police.

The 2020 white Dodge Ram panel van was taken at 6:35 a.m. May 21 in the 5000 block of South Western Avenue while the owner was at a gas station, police said. The offender entered the van and tried to drive away. When the owner tried to stop the offender, the offender threatened him with a knife and drove off, police said.

Officers located the van Monday after suburban police relayed the location to CPD air support, which found and followed the van.

The driver is in custody in Westmont, police said.
