WMVP-AM 1000’s David Kaplan will be among those inducted in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, the charitable organization announced Friday.
Other members of the Hall’s Class of 2021, set to be honored Oct. 28 at Wintrust Arena:
Former MLB outfielder Curtis Granderson, a T.F. South High School standout and UIC star and benefactor who is now president of The Players Alliance.
Former NFL coach Mike Shanahan, an East Leyden High School and Eastern Illinois graduate who guided the Denver Broncos to two Super Bowl titles.
The late Andrew “Rube” Foster, a pitcher who went on to found and manage the Chicago American Giants and is widely recognized as the father of baseball’s Negro Leagues.
Long a presence in Chicago sports and sports media, Kaplan co-hosts “Kap & J Hood” weekday mornings on ESPN 1000 and, during Chicago Bears season, anchors NBC Sports Chicago’s unofficial postgame program.
The Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame’s last induction class was in 2019.
