With summer weather beginning to arrive, the Park District of Oak Park has welcome news for those eager to take a dip in its two swimming pools.
Officials said its two public pools will be open to swimmers this year, though certain safety protocols remain in place. Rehm Pool, 515 Garfield St., is open and welcoming lap and general swimmers while Ridgeland Pool, 415 Lake St., will open on June 11 to lap and general swimmers.
Rehm Pool will have a capacity of 350 visitors per session while Ridgeland Pool is allowed a maximum of 250 visitors.
“We are thrilled to be back open,” said park district spokeswoman Ann Marie Buczek. “After a long, hard year it’s wonderful to see people enjoying our pools again.”
With the latest round of COVID-19 guidance released by the state, reservations at each pool are no longer needed, however, visitors will be limited to an hour and-a-half of swim time. Once time is up, they must exit the facility for cleaning and sanitation.
“Pool pass holders can enjoy early admission to the pool before each public swim session begins for a total of two and-a-half hours of swim time,” Buczek said. “Due to Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines, all visitors are required to wear a face covering except when in the pool.”
Daily admission to each pool is $10 for all public swim sessions and $5 for lap swim sessions. Visitors can purchase an annual pool pass for $62 for each resident pass or $75 for each nonresident pass. The passes can be used at both pools.
More information about current regulations and capacity is available on the Park District of Oak Park’s website.
