No human remains were found after almost a week of excavation work in the backyard of a Northbrook home.
Northbrook police announced Saturday they have ended their work at the home in the 1400 block of Orchard Lane. Investigators dug up a portion of the yard to a depth of nine feet, according to a news release.
Northbrook police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force were investigating a tip in a cold case involving Linda Seymour, who was reported missing from Northbrook in the winter of 1982. Her family has been notified that no remains were found, police said.
Police declined to detail the exact nature of the tip.

Work was noticeable earlier in the week, and by Wednesday, a large tarp was added to shield the expanded search area. In a previous statement, Northbrook police said investigators were excavating “in a meticulous and methodical fashion.”
According to Orchard Lane neighbors, a shed on the property next to the excavation spot was moved on Monday.
Neighbors said pipes were placed down and the shed was dragged to the immediate west before digging began to take place Tuesday.
Following the results of the excavation, police have “no other investigative avenues at this time.”
