The most memorable ‘Friends’ moments | Although its series finale aired nearly two decades ago in 2004, “Friends” remains one of America and the world’s most beloved sitcoms. Here are some of the funniest, most quotable moments from the show’s original 10 seasons and 236 episodes.
The one where Monica gets a roommate | The titular friends of “Friends” come together in the show’s pilot episode. After leaving her fiance at the altar and getting financially cut off by her father, Rachel convinces her high school best friend, Monica, to let her move in as her new roommate.
The one when Joey puts on all of Chandler’s clothes | In the season two episode “The One Where No One’s Ready,” Chandler and Joey squabble over a chair, leading to Chandler hiding all of Joey’s underwear. Joey tries to one-up Chandler by doing the “opposite”: putting on every piece of clothing Chandler owns — while going commando.
The one where Phoebe sings ‘Smelly Cat’ | There are plenty of famous lines from “Friends” but perhaps the most catchy moment comes courtesy of Phoebe. In season two, she debuts the song “Smelly Cat,” which later in the show is used as the jingle for a cat litter commercial.
The one when Ross and Rachel finally kiss | One of the most romantic moments on the show is when Ross and Rachel share their first kiss in season two. After Ross hears Rachel drunkenly confess her feelings for him on his answering machine, he confronts her at Central Perk. They bicker but both put aside their pride and finally embrace.

The one where the friends play football | In the third season’s Thanksgiving episode, a casual game of football turns intense when Monica and Ross revive their old childhood rivalry for the Geller Cup. The episode “The One With the Football” remains a favorite among fans.
The one when no one knows what Chandler’s job is | In the season four episode “The One with the Embryos,” Monica and Rachel face off against Chandler and Joey in a quiz to see who knows more about each other. The women end up betting their apartment and losing after they are unable to identify Chandler’s job.
The one where Monica, Phoebe and Rachel all wear wedding dresses | Rachel is struggling with the news of Ross's engagement, so to cheer her up, Monica and Phoebe suggest they all wear wedding dresses while drinking beer and eating popcorn on the couch. When Rachel tries to prank Chandler, it turns out to be her ex-boyfriend Joshua, who she ends up scaring away for good.

The one with the terrible trifle | In the Thanksgiving-themed episode “The One Where Ross Got High,” Rachel is in charge of making dessert, but the pages of the cookbook stick together, causing her to create a half trifle, half shepherd’s pie monstrosity consisting of ladyfingers, jam, custard, raspberries, bananas, whipped cream and beef sautéed with peas and onions. This dish has been recreated in real life by countless “Friends” fans since.
The one with the Holiday Armadillo | In the season seven episode “The One with the Holiday Armadillo,” Ross has his son Ben for the holidays and wants to teach him about Hanukkah. Unable to find any other character costume so close to Christmas, Ross concocts the character of the Holiday Armadillo, “Santa’s representative for all the Southern states — and Mexico!”
The one when Will comes to Thanksgiving | “Friends” has more than one iconic Thanksgiving episode. In the season eight episode “The One With The Rumor,” Jennifer Aniston’s then-husband Brad Pitt makes a guest appearance as Will, who reveals he and Ross were part of an “I Hate Rachel” club in high school.
The one with Chandler and the box | After Chandler kisses Joey's girlfriend, Joey refuses to speak to him, except swearing at him in Italian. When Joey threatens to move out, Chandler sits in a giant wooden box for six hours to earn his forgiveness.

The one where Ross says the wrong name | Season four of “Friends” ends with one of the series’ most stunning moments. While getting married to Emily, Ross accidentally says Rachel’s name during his vows instead of Emily’s. Though they go through with the ceremony, their marriage later falls apart.
The one where Monica and Chandler propose to each other | In the two-part episode “The One with the Proposal,” Chandler’s proposal plan goes awry after Monica’s ex Richard interrupts them during a romantic dinner. After questioning her future with Chandler, Monica decides to propose to him, surprising him at her apartment with a room full of candles. When she becomes too overwhelmed, Chandler picks up where she left off, and Monica accepts his proposal.
The one where the group dresses up for Halloween | While there are multiple Thanksgiving and Christmas “Friends” episodes, only one centers around Halloween. In season eight, Monica and Chandler host a costume party. Joey dresses up as Chandler, Rachel shows up as “a woman who spent a lot of money on a dress because pretty soon, she won’t be able to fit into it,” and Ross memorably dresses as “Spudnik.”
The one with Pat the Dog | One of the running gags in “Friends” is Joey’s large ceramic statue, Pat the Dog. Chandler and Joey ride Pat triumphantly into their new apartment after winning the bet in season four. Pat is later relegated to the balcony and makes an appearance in the final episode when the movers are taking everything out of Monica’s apartment.
The one where Ross and Rachel were ‘on a break’ | In season three, Ross’s jealousy causes him and Rachel to have a big fight, ending with Rachel saying they need to “take a break … a break from us.” Whether or not they were “on a break” or fully “broken up” becomes a recurring point throughout the series — especially after Ross gets intimate with another woman.
The one where the stripper comes to Phoebe's bachelorette party | In Season 10, Monica scrambles to find Phoebe a last-minute exotic dancer for her bachelorette party. When the unconventional stripper, played by Danny DeVito, arrives, the ladies are upset at first but decide to let him put on one last striptease routine before retiring.

The one where the friends get married | Both Monica and Chandler and later Phoebe and Mike get white weddings on the show. Monica and Chandler tie the knot in season seven with Joey officiating while wearing a World War I movie costume. In the 10th season, a giant blizzard derails Phoebe and Mike's wedding plans, but they decide to get married outside Central Perk in the snow.
