A man was injured Tuesday when his car went off the roadway on McDonald Road, rolled over a few times and landed in Stowell Park near Corron Elementary School, South Elgin police said.
The driver was westbound on McDonald Road when his vehicle crossed the center line in front of South Elgin Fire District Station #2, South Elgin Deputy Police Chief Randy Endean said. The vehicle went into a culvert, took out a couple of trees, continued 100 more yards and came out of the culvert to strike another tree, he said.
It came to a rest on a spot between the park and the elementary school, Endean said.
The man was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital, police said. No information about his condition was available but it appears he may have suffered a medical condition while driving, Endean said. No other injuries were reported.
South Elgin Police are investigating the accident. No other injuries were reported.
