Former Chicago Bears head coach Dick Jauron and his wife, Gail, are poised to sell their four-bedroom, 3,204-square-foot duplex town home in Lake Forest for $699,000. They have had the home on and off the market for more than a decade, and it is under contract to sell.
Now retired, Jauron, 70, was the Bears’ head coach from 1999 until 2003. He and his wife now live in his native Swampscott, Massachusetts.

Even after Jauron left the Bears and took coaching positions in Detroit, Buffalo, Philadelphia and Cleveland, the Jaurons kept a home in Lake Forest, although they progressively downsized to smaller homes. The couple paid $766,000 in 2006 for the duplex town home, which was built in 2000.

Located in the Conway Farms area of Lake Forest, the house has 31/2 bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a first-floor office, a first-floor primary bedroom suite and two upstairs bedrooms with a “Jack and Jill” bathroom with double sinks. The house also has a finished basement with a large rec area and a bonus room, and a kitchen that was redone in 2019 that has an island, a work desk and stainless steel appliances.
In recent years, the Jaurons have rented out the duplex town home at times, their listing agent, Lori Glattly of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago, said.
“It was used for an investment for a long period, and now’s a great time to sell,” she said.
The Jaurons first listed the house in 2011 for $699,000 and then cut their asking price to $675,000 in 2012 before taking it off the market. They relisted it in 2017 for $729,000 and reduced their asking price to $699,000 in 2018 before removing it from the market. They listed it again in 2019 for $729,000 and then cut their price later that year in succession to $699,000, $675,000 and $649,000. After the kitchen renovation, they took the house off the market again before relisting it in February for $699,000.
The house had a $13,929 property tax bill in the 2019 tax year. Its owner also must pay $733 a month in homeowners association dues, $400 of which is for a special assessment reserve fund for new roofs.
