The film, an adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical of the same name, stars Ansel Elgort as Tony and New Jersey native Rachel Zegler as Maria, star-crossed lovers from opposing gangs, the Jets and Sharks, in the streets of New York.
Rita Moreno, who won an Oscar for playing Anita in the 1961 film, plays a shopkeeper named Valentina.
“It’s stupefying,” Moreno told the Daily News last year. “I’m 88 and I’m back in ‘West Side Story.’ It’s cuckoo and wonderful and thrilling.”
“West Side Story,” which also stars Ariana DeBose, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James and Maddie Ziegler, hits theaters on Dec. 10.
