Results of April 6 election in DuPage County won’t be made official until April 27, but the county Election Commission has posted unofficial vote totals for write-in candidates, which has a big impact on the Clarendon Hills Village Board.
Three incumbents — Wil Freve, Ken Hall and Don Knoll — all chose to not seek reelection, leaving three seats on the board open for four-year terms. However, Megan Lazar was the only candidate to submit petitions by the Dec. 21. 2020, deadline to be on the ballot, and she received nearly 54% of the unofficial vote total, with all precincts reporting.
That meant two of the new board members would be voted in from a field of five write-in candidates: Taps Gallagher, John Jaeger, Meredith Lannert, Allyson Russo and Michael White. Gallagher previously served on the Village Board from 2001 to 2005.
Unofficial vote totals for the write-in candidates had Lannert with 181 and Gallagher with 178 as the top two to fill the two additional board vacancies. Remaining votes went to Russo, 104; Jaeger, 88; and White, 54. Lazar’s vote total of 731 was more than the combined total of 644 for five write-in candidates.
Lannert said before the election that as a board member of the Clarendon Hills Chamber of Commerce and a local realtor, supporting the economic vitality of the village is at the top of her list.

“This benefits all residents by strengthening home prices,” she said. “5G is also a hot topic for many as well that likely will be brought back before the board in the future. I would like to understand the safety and impact of this technology so we can keep our residents safe.”
Gallagher said before the election that he was running again to help assist officials in problem areas confronting the village.
“We need to develop new residential condos in village and continue commercial development in the downtown area,” he said.
