NFL draft profile: Asante Samuel Jr. of Florida State

Florida State defensive back Asante Samuel Jr. is the son of four-time Pro Bowl selectee and two-time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel. Samuel Jr. started eight games in 2020, leading Florida State with three interceptions and six pass breakups before opting out for the remainder of the season.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein compares Samuel to former NFL cornerback Mackensie Alexander.

“Samuel has good feet, but average size and transition burst to shadow breaks,” Zierlein wrote. “He allowed too many catches in front of his face, especially early in the 2020 season.”
