A man who allegedly robbed a bank along North Avenue in Oak Park Tuesday morning has been taken into custody in the south suburbs, FBI authorities said.
According to Oak Park police, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, ripped jeans and red shoes entered PNC Bank, 6621 North Ave., at about 11:45 a.m. and asked to open an account.
Police said the man then presented a note to an employee that implied he had a gun and demanded money. The bank employee complied and the man fled the bank with about $2,000 in cash, police said. No injuries were reported.
FBI spokeswoman Siobhan Johnson said the same man was suspected of robbing a Chase Bank at 4645 W. North Ave. in Chicago the same day.
According to the FBI, the man suspected in each robbery was later taken into custody in Calumet City on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the suspect nor any charges he may be facing.
