The United Center will switch to the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine beginning next week, officials said Sunday.
Starting April 20, those with walk-in appointments will receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which the Chicago Department of Public Health has reported to be in “high demand from residents,” according to a news release from Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office.
Appointments for Chicago residents can be booked starting Monday at zocdoc.com/vaccine. Appointments can also be made by phone at 312-746-4835.
For those who received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the United Center, the site’s drive-thru will administer the second dose.

Illinois residents 16 and older will be eligible to sign up for vaccine appointments starting Monday, but that expansion will come a week later for Chicago, which plans to open up eligibility to those 16 and older April 19. Vaccinations at city-run sites like the United Center are limited to those 18 and older.
