One of the best offensive tackles in the 2021 NFL draft class didn’t play football in 2020.

Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell opted out of the 2020 season and entered the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2019, Sewell started 13 games and was recognized as the best offensive linemen in college football earning him the Outland Trophy. Sewell was the first Polynesian player to receive the award.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein compares Sewell to NFL pro bowler Trent Williams.

“He’s a good kid, but he’s immature as a worker so he might need a veteran to take him under his wing and help him learn to be a pro,” a national scout for an NFC team said. “Very few men who walk the Earth have his size and athleticism, so he’s worth any type of risk you think you are taking with limited tape.”
