Waukegan native Jocelyn Zamudio will be on Wednesday’s episode of the NBC hit “Chicago P.D.”

“This is far from an individual achievement. This is a win for my parents, coaches, community, and agents — it’s a culmination of all our hard work. I’m proud to be the second woman and first Latina from Waukegan to earn a guest star role and I hope to shed light on all the many other talented individuals from there,” Zamudio said.

Zamudio, who is 25, graduated from Waukegan High School in 2014. She currently lives in Chicago. Her parents and some other family members still live in Waukegan.

Actress Jocelyn Zamudio, a Waukegan native, will be on “Chicago P.D.” on March 31.

She went to the University of Illinois — Chicago where she majored in theater, minored in law and society, and was a student athlete on the cheer team, according to a press release. She graduated in 2018.

Like many actors, work has been scarce for Zamudio during the pandemic. Her last live theater performance was when she performed as Julia Reyes (she was Karen Rodriguez’s understudy) in “I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter” at Steppenwolf Theatre on March 12, 2020, hours before the entire Chicago theater industry was shut down because of COVID-19.

More recently, she performed in Definition Theatre’s Amplify Digital Showcase on March 18. Amplify is a theater program developed to showcase “underrepresented theater creatives,” according to the group’s website.

Zamudio has previously been on Showtime’s “The Chi” and FOX-TV’s “Empire.”

‘Chicago P.D.” airs at 8 p.m. Wednesdays.
