A standoff with police in the Ashburn neighborhood that started when a woman stabbed her husband late Thursday ended peacefully after almost 12 hours, police said.
Police were called to the 7900 block of South Christiana Avenue about 9:40 p.m. Thursday after the 56-year-old man was slashed in the arm by his wife, police said in a media notification.
When officers arrived, the man ran out of the house and the woman turned off the lights and locked the doors of the couple’s single-family home, police said. That response from the woman prompted police to call in a SWAT team.
The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed initially in fair condition.
The standoff ended about 9:15 a.m. and the woman also was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, according to police spokesperson Karie James. The woman wasn’t immediately arrested.
