Western Springs police have arrested a Chicago driver they say fired shots at another car on Ogden Avenue Dec. 23.

Garion J. Clay, 18, of the 8400 block of South Green Street, Chicago, was charged Monday with aggravated discharge of a firearm, after a three-month investigation, according to the Western Springs Police Department.

A witness reported that a black four-door car and a silver Infiniti sedan both exited Interstate 294 in Western Springs at a high rate of speed at about 4:25 p.m. Dec. 23, and headed east on Ogden Avenue, Deputy Police Chief Daniel Albrecht said in a statement.

According to witnesses, the black car stopped on Ogden just east of Hampton Avenue, the driver exited the car and discharged several rounds at the silver Infiniti, the statement read.

The Infiniti pulled onto the lawn of a home on Ogden. The driver of the black car then made a U-turn and went back west on Ogden toward I-294, Albrecht said.

The Infiniti pulled off the lawn and was last seen southbound on Lawn Avenue.

Police determined the black sedan was a 2006 Audi S4, registered to Clay. Police seized the car Jan. 13 to search for evidence and, using video and interviews with Clay, determined he was the gunman, Albrecht said.

A Cook County judge Tuesday set Clay’s bond at $25,000.
