The identity of a 58-year-old man was released Friday after he was found during a fire in the Brainerd neighborhood on the city’s Far South Side.
Firefighters burst into a residential building in 9200 block of South Loomis Boulevard about 7:40 p.m. Thursday and found Anthony James Rogers unresponsive, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Rogers was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was pronounced dead at 8:46 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
Two woman, 40 and 31, and a man, 63, were able to get out of the building and weren’t injured, Bartoli said.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
