The Presidents Day blizzard that dumped more than a foot and half of snow on large parts of the Chicago area also marked a record ninth straight day of more than a tenth of an inch of snow.
With 12 days of the month remaining, 2021 has seen 19 inches of snow in Chicago — far above the normal for February of 9.1 inches. The record was set in 2011, the year of Snowmageddon, when 29 inches fell in February.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a statewide disaster proclamation in response to the winter storm, which left a mess on roads and with transit agencies.
Here are totals from storm and how February compares.
