The La Grange Public Library is looking for individuals interested in serving on the library board of trustees.

Board Vice-President Angie Larson is stepping down from her position after the Feb. 16 library board meeting, because her primary residence will no longer be in La Grange, library officials said.

La Grange residents who are registered voters may apply to fill her position until the end of her term in April 2023.

Library officials want someone who will bring “positive energy to the board and work collaboratively with others.”

Larson, who has been a member of the library board since March 2017, helped make decisions about the library’s first floor renovation and was involved in the hiring process for the library’s executive director, library officials said. She was a member of the board’s finance and policy committees.

“She is known for encouraging decisions that are enriching, while still being fiscally wise,” said Library Board President, Joyce Hagen-McIntosh.

“Angie has been an asset to La Grange in so many ways and her involvement and work didn’t begin or end with the library,” Hagen-McIntosh said. “She is a small-business owner, an active Parent Teacher Council leader and involved in other local activities. Angie will be greatly missed.”

Residents who are interested in filling the vacancy should complete an online application at www.lagrangelibrary.org/board-vacancy

, which asks applicants about their education, job, references, what they think are the three biggest challenges facing the library board and other information.

The board plans to review the applications received at the end of February, but may extend the time to apply depending on how many people applied, said Arcadia McCauley, the library community engagement manager.
