The library will host community listening sessions online about equity, diversity and inclusion pertaining to library services, at 7 p.m. Thursday and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, via Zoom, said Arcadia McCauley, the library’s community engagement manager.
“We are a public place,” McCauley said. “We want to be a welcoming place to everyone,” regardless of their age, gender, finances, race or ability level, she said.
The public’s feedback will be used to create recommendations that will shape the La Grange Library’s next strategic plan, McCauley said.
The library’s prior strategic plan covered the period from 2017 to 2019.
At the beginning of 2020, library officials were preparing to start new strategic planning, but the pandemic postponed that, she said.
This year, they hope to resume meeting to develop a new plan.
The library hired RGW Consulting, based in Oak Park, to lead the listening sessions related to inclusion, equity and diversity. The library staff and its board of directors already have met with the RGW consultants to discuss those topics — what the library does well and how they can improve, McCauley said.
Now all are welcome to participate in the free listening sessions Feb. 4 and Feb. 13. The program will be the same on both days. No registration is required. Simply click on the link http://bit.ly/3iCa2p8, which also is available on the events page of the library website, lagrangelibrary.org.
