A 7-11 store in La Grange was held up at gunpoint for the second time in just over a week.
La Grange police officials report a man entered the convenience store, on the southeast corner of La Grange Road and 47th Street, at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday. He showed the clerk a small caliber handgun and demanded money from the store’s cash register. He took cash and the cordless phone from the store’s landline, La Grange police authorities said. The robber then fled on foot east on 47th Street.
He was described as an African American male with an average build, about 6-feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black knit hat, black winter coat and gloves.
The 7-11 clerk said it may be the same person who robbed the store Jan. 16. Early that Saturday morning, a male entered at about 1:08 a.m., showed a gun and demanded money from the register.
The clerk said he gave him money and he ran out northeast toward 47th. The clerk described the robber in that incident as a younger man, who was wearing a full ski mask with only his eyes showing. He wore black winter gloves and dark clothing and was about 6-feet, 2-inches tall, the clerk said.
Police are not releasing the amount of money taken on either day.
Anyone with information about the crimes or a suspect is asked to call the La Grange Police Department at (708) 579-2333 or the police dispatch center at (708) 215-3586.
