According to Museum Executive Director John McKinnon, the program will feature Mary Lou Finley, a member of King’s staff who worked with him during the Chicago Freedom Movement; Beverly Guy-Sheftall, founding director of the Women’s Research and Resource Center (since 1981) and Anna Julia Cooper Professor of Women’s Studies at Spelman College; activist Bernardine Dohrn, a former leader of the Weather Underground who spent years on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List; and the Rev. Marshall Elijah Hatch Sr., of New Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chicago.

McKinnon said the King Day program connects with the Museum’s upcoming exhibit, In Focus: The Chicago Freedom Movement and the Fight for Fair Housing. That exhibit, planned for a March 4 opening, feature the photography of Bernie Kleina [sic], a Wheaton photographer and activist, along with projects by local teens, and more.
