More than two months after her son was stillborn, Chrissy Teigen still has a broken heart — and a tummy bump.
But the grief of losing son Jack at 20 weeks of gestation is evolving into gratitude for the little ones in her life, and for all the rest of it.
“This is me and my body, just yesterday,” Teigen wrote on Instagram next to a body-profile selfie that showed a clearly visible bump. “Even though I’m no longer pregnant, every glance in the mirror reminds me of what could have been. And I have no idea why I still have this bump, honestly. It’s frustrating. But I’m proud of where this entire journey took my body and mind in other ways. I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again. But I am lucky to have two amazing little ones who are transforming into big little people more and more every single day.”
The TV host, model and culinary mogul did not give a reason for her definitive declaration about pregnancy. But she and husband John Legend had been open in the past about their fertility struggles. Their two children, 21/2-year-old Miles Theodore and 41/2-year-old daughter Luna Simone, were conceived via IVF.

Teigen was put on bed rest soon after she and Legend announced in August that their third child was on the way. On Sept. 27 she was hospitalized with heavy bleeding and spent what she called a “scary morning” two days later undergoing blood transfusions and other treatment.
In the end, heartbreakingly, the baby had to be induced because the placenta had separated from the womb wall, a condition known as a partial placenta abruption, according to “Today.”
She’d had problems with her placenta in previous pregnancies, and Miles had to be delivered a month early because not enough nutrients were making it through, she wrote in a Medium post detailing the trauma of losing Jack.
