player ready...There won’t be a trip to Las Vegas in it for them, but Chicago Bears players Khalil Mack and Cordarrelle Patterson have been voted to the 2021 Pro Bowl, representing the NFC.
This is Mack’s sixth straight Pro Bowl selection and his third straight in as many seasons with the Bears; he was voted to the AFC squad three times while with the Oakland Raiders.
The linebacker leads the Bears with eight sacks in 2020 and also has an interception, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Mack also has 49 quarterback hurries, tied for second in the NFL.
Patterson now has four Pro Bowl selections, including two with the Bears. He leads the NFL with 29.4 yards per kickoff return and tops the league with 942 kickoff return yards.
He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown in a Week 10 against Minnesota, a 104-yarder that broke the Bears’ franchise record (103 yards by Gale Sayers in 1967).
In addition to his kick-return contributions, Patterson has taken on a considerable workload as a running back. He has carried the ball 60 times for 214 yards and a touchdown to go with 21 receptions for 132 yards.
The 2021 Pro Bowl had been scheduled for Jan. 31 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. However, the COVID-19 pandemic altered those plans. This year’s event will take place virtually, with players going head to head in the Madden NFL 21 video game.
