Photos with Santa being taken at NaperLights display
Santa will be taking photos with children from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11-12, Dec. 18-19 and Dec. 23 during NaperLights on Water Street in downtown Naperville.
Photos will be taken in front of the Great Tree in Jaycees Park, located at the corner of Water Street and Webster, just off the Riverwalk, a news release said. Santa will be wearing a mask, and a lighted barrier will keep him six feet from visitors.
“With Santa waving in the background, families can snap photos of their children to remember this very special holiday season, safely and confidently at no charge,” Geoff Roehll, NaperLights chairman for the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise, said in the release.

Wehrli allocates $3M initiative grant to Little Friends
State Rep. Grant Wehrli, R-Naperville, has announced a $3 million member initiative grant will be presented to Little Friends, a local nonprofit that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism.
The money will help the agency as it relocates this month from its longtime Naperville location to a new campus in Warrenville.
“I wanted to make one sizable allocation that would make a real difference in the community I love,” Wehrli, who leaves office in January, said in a news release.
“I chose Little Friends because I believe government has a primary responsibility to take care of those who cannot care for themselves, and during my six years in Springfield, I have seen firsthand what a terrible job the state does in this area,” he said.
Little Friends’ new facility will have 74,000 square feet of space to accommodate more than 20 classrooms and allow the agency to go from helping 120 people to nearly 200 in 2021, the release said.
Grant funds will cover more than half the cost of the construction loan, and will also provide for modernized technologies, the release said.

Library wants photos of people with Dr. Seuss statues
The Naperville Public Library is inviting people to take a photograph at one of the Dr. Seuss statues at the three library branches for a holiday social media montage and a video greeting card being sent to local adult living communities.
Library officials ask that participants post their photos on their own social media accounts with the hashtag #NPLSelfiesWithSeuss, a news release said. Library officials will compile them for reposting and the video.
Submissions give the library the right to share the photo and post them on the library’s website and social media accounts, the release said.
