Lake County officials finalized the election results earlier this week, posting official numbers on their website.

Final results from the nearly 100 precincts under Fremont, Libertyville and Vernon suggest the area supported Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, which early results have shown consistently as well. The result is a continuation of the same trend in 2016, when the three precinct areas supported Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton over President Donald Trump.

Across all three precinct areas, election data shows more than 112,000 residents were registered to vote, which is an increase of about 11% from 2016’s registered numbers for the area. Based on official data, the current voter turnout rate for the three precinct areas is at about 74.5%, which is just under the 74.7% turnout for the area in 2016. Though, more ballots have been cast in the area than in 2016, data shows.

Data shows support has been fairly consistent for Biden across all three precinct areas — of the nearly 100 precincts under the Vernon, Libertyville and Fremont umbrella, less than five had more total votes cast for President Donald Trump than Biden, county data shows.

One trend of note between supporters for the two candidates was the makeup of in-person voting versus mail-in voting. Trump supporters turned out more on election day in all three precinct areas when compared to Biden supporters, unofficial results say. Meanwhile, Biden’s voters sent mail-in ballots more than four times as much as Trump voters in the area.

To look at it another way, of Biden’s more than 51,700 votes votes across Fremont, Libertyville and Vernon precincts, 59% have been mail-in. This compares to Trump’s nearly 29,500 total votes, where about 26% of his votes are classified as mail-in, results state. Another tidbit shows Biden received more mail-in votes in the three precinct areas (30,558), than Trump did total votes in the precinct areas (29,465).

The data remains fairly consistent with Lake County’s overall mail-in turnout, with officials noting the total amount of mail-in ballots in the county was four times higher than any other election in the county’s history. Despite Trump being out-gained in mail-in ballots up to this point, his raw mail-in numbers are higher in the area this year when compared to 2016, data shows.

On the topic of 2016, there is not much difference between the area’s support for Biden and its support for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Biden claimed 62.5% of the vote to Trump’s 35.6% in the area. In 2016, Trump obtained 35.7% to Clinton’s 58.5% in the three precinct areas. One note in 2016 was Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson taking home about 4.5% of the final vote in the area.

While mail-in balloting still favored Democrats in 2016, Clinton’s mail-in vote was less than 12% of her total, while Trump’s sat at a little less than 8% for Fremont, Libertyville and Vernon, archived data shows.

In other national races, Sen. Dick Durbin has taken home about 57.7% of the vote against Republican Mark Curran’s 39.6% in the three precinct areas, county data shows. In 2016, the area narrowly supported Mark Steven Kirk over Sen. Tammy Duckworth, giving her 47.9% of the vote to Kirk’s nearly 48.2%. In raw voting numbers, Kirk beat Duckworth in 2016 by just over 200 votes in the three precinct areas, archived data shows.

Official results show U.S. Rep. (D-Ill.) Brad Schneider in the 10th congressional district up against Valerie Ramirez Mukherjee in his re-election bid, with about 61.5% of the vote to Mukherjee’s 38.5% in the three precinct areas. In 2016, Schneider was beaten by Republican Robert Dold by a margin of 47.5% to 52.5% in the area. In 2018, Schneider ran again and defeated Douglas Bennett with 62.8% of the vote in Fremont, Libertyville and Vernon precincts, 2018 data shows.
