
Several Chicago area fire departments responded early Thursday to a large blaze at a business just north of the Stevenson Expressway near Cicero Avenue that wasn’t extinguished until afternoon, fire officials said.

The Chicago Fire Department was requested to assist with the fire near 5001 W. Pershing Road in Stickney near Cicero Avenue about 7 a.m., Deputy District Chief Walter Schroeder said.
The fire was declared under control about 2 p.m., according to a Stickney Fire Protection District official.
The Chicago Fire Department dispatched a fireboat to help fight the flames and was pumping water from the river to subdue the fire.
The Summit Fire Department also helped fight the fire, officials said.
There were no injuries reported.
