The four Republican candidates for DuPage County’s contested races for coroner, circuit clerk, auditor and recorder had narrow leads over their Democratic opponents with 926 of 930 precincts reporting and more than 389,000 ballots counted as of 11:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Here are the results as of right now:

Coroner

County Coroner Richard Jorgensen, with 53% of the vote, had a slim lead over Democratic candidate Gregory Whalen’s 47%.

Jorgensen, of Wheaton, first won office in 2012; this is the first time he is facing a challenger in a November general election. He is a former surgeon who has worked in area hospitals, including Edward Hospital in Naperville and Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.

Whalen, of Clarendon Hills, has more than 16 years’ first responder experience, including stints as a police officer, firefighter and paramedic.

Circuit Clerk

Republican incumbent Chris Kachiroubas, with 52% of the vote, overtook Democrat Candice Adams, who had been leading for most of the night. Adams has 48% of the vote.

Kachiroubas, of Elmhurst, was first elected circuit clerk in 2004. Adams is an attorney for Chicago-based Ankin Law Office.

Auditor

Republican incumbent Bob Grogan leads Democrat William “Bill” White, with more than 52% of the vote to White’s 47%.

Grogan, of Downers Grove, was first elected county auditor in 2008; he is only the sixth person to hold the elected office since the office was established in 1932.

White, also of Downers Grove, is an attorney who has previously held public office as a Downers Grove-based District 99 School Board member and a Downers Grove Village Council member.

Recorder

Republican Babette Holder Youngberg was nearly tied with her Democratic challenger Kathleen Carrier shortly before midnight Tuesday. Holder Youngberg had 50.2% of the vote to Carrier’s 49.8%.

This is the only countywide race in which there is no incumbent running.

Holder Youngberg, of Wheaton, is a Milton Township GOP committee person and a real estate agent. Kathleen Carrier, of Carol Stream, has previously run for state representative as a Democrat in the 42nd District.

The two candidates seek to succeed Republican Fred Bucholz, who did not seek re-election.

State’s Attorney

DuPage State’s Attorney Bob Berlin is running unopposed in his re-election bid. Berlin was appointed state’s attorney in 2010 to complete the unexpired term of Joseph Birkett, and he won re-election in 2012 and 2016.
