State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi, R-Elmhurst, will hold an online webinar Thursday afternoon with doctors from Amita Health Adventist Medical Center in Hinsdale to discuss precautions to take as flu season ramps up and the status of the coronavirus.
Mazzochi has been monitoring the progress of the possible COVID-19 vaccines and will give an update on the latest clinical trial data.
“We know so much more about the coronavirus today than we did even earlier this summer when I spoke with the University of Chicago to update residents,” Mazzochi said in a statement. “This will be highly informative for residents concerned about what the changing season will mean for COVID’s spread.”
The flu and COVID-19 present similar symptoms, Mazzochi stated. “It is important that people take both seriously this year.”
Hospitals and medical centers need to keep beds available for a potential fall surge in COVID. That’s why it is especially important to get a flu shot this year, because the two illnesses can be difficult to distinguish from one another, according to the World Health Organization, Mazzochi stated.
The webinar will be livestreamed on Mazzochi’s Facebook page, Facebook.com/illinoishouse47, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.
It also can be watched via Zoom by registering at the website, RepMazzochi.com.
Questions will be accepted during the webinar, but participants are encouraged to submit their questions in advance by email to [email protected].
