Clarendon Hills Police Chief Paul Dalen said Tuesdaythat social media posts about possible attempted abductions of children in the village likely referred to two suspicious vehicle calls.
Dalen said a caller advised that an older Ford Bronco stopped on the street, on Traube Avenue near Woodstock Avenue, about 7:30 pm. Monday and opened the vehicle door, while a child was nearby, then closed the door and left.
“There was no reported conversation that the driver had with the child and no reported abduction attempt,” Dalen said. “The driver’s motives for stopping and opening the door can be left up to speculation”
Dalen said officers were unable to make contact with the complainant for more information and were unable to locate the vehicle.

Dalen said several weeks ago there was a report of a suspicious vehicle — an older pickup truck — on Ridge Avenue, that stopped near children who were playing outside.
“The driver got out and walked to the sidewalk,” Dalen said. “At the same time the homeowner came out the front door, the driver went back to his truck and left.”
Dalen said there was no conversation with the children and no attempt to abduct any child.
“The reason for the guy stopping is unknown,” he said, adding that officers could not locate the vehicle.
