A man was shot Friday afternoon at North Riverside Park Mall in the western suburb, officials said.

Around 3:20 p.m., a domestic-related incident took place in the mall, officials said. An argument then ensued between two men, which escalated into a “targeted” shooting, according to a statement from town Mayor Hubert Hermanek.

One male suffered two gunshot wounds in his lower body and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center. He is “alert and conscious,” Hermanek said in a statement.

Two suspects were stopped by North Riverside police and are in custody, officials said.

The North Riverside Park Mall has been closed for the remainder of Friday. The mall said on social media that it will reopen Saturday for normal business hours.

“Today, we had an isolated crime occur at the mall,” a Twitter statement from the mall said. “Thanks to the police and our security team’s quick response, the suspect has been identified and is in police custody.”

This is the third shooting in the last few months at the mall. In June, a man in his 20s was shot inside the mall. And in late May, another man was fatally shot at the mall.
