Police are investigating the assault of a 59-year-old South Side man whose death was ruled a homicide.

A female relative found Curtis Littrice, 59, unclothed, in a contorted position, facedown in bed about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 7800 block of South Laflin Avenue in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, police said.

Littrice suffered multiple “gashes, lacerations and blunt force trauma about his face,” and police found that a belt and an extension cord had been wrapped tightly around his neck.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene a few minutes later, at 9:43 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Littrice, who lived in the same block where he was killed, was last seen by relatives about 9 p.m. Monday, according to police.

An autopsy Wednesday determined Littrice died of multiple injuries from being assaulted, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
