The man entered the home of the women, 22 and 25, in the 1300 block of East 52nd Street about 4 a.m. Monday. He woke up the women, demanded money and began grabbing their belongings, police said.
He told the women he had a weapon, according to police. Though the women never saw it, they said they were convinced he had a gun. Police said the intruder became angry at one point and hit both of them before forcing them into his car.
He drove the women to several ATMs and forced them to withdraw cash. One woman was able to get money, but the other woman was unable to withdraw funds, police said. She began contacting family members in hopes that they could wire her money.
The man then drove them to a business that could complete the transaction, but the wiring service was not available that early in the morning, police said
Eventually, the women were able to escape from the car and contact the police. No arrest has been reported.
