The Oak Brook Park District plans to go ahead Sept. 19 with its annual Autumn Fest, but has revamped the event because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Autumn Fest is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Central Park pavilion, the same location at which park district concerts are hosted. No food or beverages will be sold; however, attendees are encouraged to bring their own.

Due to the pandemic, social distance guidelines have been implemented, with social distance “circles” available for purchase at $30.00 each. Each of the 48 circles will allow for a maximum of six people.

“We modeled Autumn Fest after our concerts, which did very well,” said Brian DeWolf, the park district’s recreation manager for athletics. “While the concerts really were more geared toward adults and seniors, this is more of a family-oriented event. We wanted to have something for the kids to do.”

The first 90 minutes of Autumn Fest will feature roaming entertainers, who will travel to each of the six socially distant sections every 15 minutes. The offerings are a juggler, magician, bubble show, Disney characters, craft station to color mini-pumpkins and carnival games.

The roaming entertainers will be followed by a kid-friendly DJ, DeWolf said.

He said registration will be able to be complete online by early next week.
