The 2020 presidential election is nearly three months away, but that hasn’t stopped prognosticators from looking at who could run in 2024. Rapper Cardi B threw another name into the mix over the weekend: New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In an early Saturday morning tweet, Cardi B responded to a video of Ocasio-Cortez listening to the rapper’s “Bodak Yellow” while outlining the obstacles many Americans face when trying to get health coverage, including how she didn’t have proper dental insurance until she was elected to Congress.
“In other words, I got a bag and fixed my teeth,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote, referencing “Bodak Yellow.”
“EXCEPT YOU SHOULDN’T NEED A BAG TO FIX YOUR TEETH,” she added.
“She better run for president when she turns 35,” Cardi B wrote in response to the video.
Ocasio-Cortez hopped in the replies, jokingly agreeing with her fellow Bernie Sanders-endorser.

“Women Against Patriarchy (WAP) 2020,” the congresswoman wrote along with a winking, tongue-out emoji, referencing “WAP” Cardi B’s newest megahit which features Megan Thee Stallion.
Ocasio-Cortez, who cruised to victory in the New York primary in June, has previously downplayed speculation that she will seek higher office despite being a popular suggestion for 2028 and beyond.
“I aspire to a mission,” she said in March. “We can’t swing from one savior to another. There’s a lot of savior-ism in politics, like ‘Who’s next?’ and ‘Who’s gonna save us?’ And the answer is you. The answer is people.”
