An 81-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle and died Sunday, according to Cook County Sheriff’s police.

The woman was identified as Glenview resident Soon Hee Park by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The accident occurred on Central Road near East River Road in unincorporated Maine Township, police said. The woman was crossing Central Road in a designated crosswalk from one forest preserve to another when she was hit, according to Kathleen Carmody, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

Cook County Sheriff’s police responded to the scene just before 11 a.m. Park, of the 3900 block of Triumvera Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Her death was ruled an accident, according got the medical examiner’s office. The cause was found to be multiple blunt force injuries from being struck by the vehicle.

According to police, the driver was traveling eastbound on Central Road in a 2016 Honda when the driver hit the woman. The driver did not show any indication of intoxication, police said.

The driver was on scene when police arrived and has not been charged with a crime, but the investigation continues, Carmody said.
